Advanced Dental Care is happy to offer intravenous (IV) sedation to help our Cocoa, FL patients receive a more positive dental experience. IV sedation can be used on patients who experience anxiety or fears about going to the dentist. This treatment at Advanced Dental Care utilizes anti-anxiety medication that is delivered directly into your vein. The medication can help keep you calm and relaxed during your dental sessions. Even though you are not actually asleep during the procedure, the relaxation and temporary memory loss could make you feel as if you have been asleep. Skilled and highly-trained dentist Dr. Dieter Burr can also adjust the amount of medication depending on what you need and to ensure your total safety. Ideal candidates for IV sedation are any man or woman experiencing anxiety about undergoing a comprehensive dental treatment. This sedation dentistry method gives you the capacity to undergo the dental care you need without discomfort or fear. Prior to undergoing treatment, Dr. Burr will speak with you about the various sedation dentistry options our practice provides to offer the best one for you.
What To Expect
For IV sedation, a small needle will be inserted into your vein and the medicine will be administered. You will begin to feel the effects within a few minutes. Dr. Burr will then begin to do the dental therapy, while also monitoring the IV levels. When the procedure is finished, the IV will be removed and you will feel awake in a few minutes.
It is advisable not to drive for at least 24 hours following IV sedation. You should probably arrange for someone to pick you up from the procedure appointment and take you home. You may feel tired for the rest of the day, therefore we suggest that you drink appropriate amounts of water to stay hydrated and rest when possible. In some cases, you might become nauseous or encounter memory loss. These side effects will generally diminish within a day of the dental appointment. If you experience any issues or your symptoms persist, you should contact our office immediately.
IV sedation may or may not be covered at least in part by your insurance provider. Prior to receiving the sedation, our financial team will contact your insurance company to determine any additional out-of-pocket costs. Advanced Dental Care also provides financial planning and payment choices to make treatment more affordable for several of our patients.
Plan Your Procedure
